There are many causes of anxiety. One may be the medical condition known as panic disorder. This happens when an individual experiences a sudden onset of extreme fear and anticipates fear or danger in almost every situation. The effects of a panic attack can be intense and is sometimes characterized by severe anxiety and depression as well.

Because these symptoms are similar to other anxiety disorders, there is a great likelihood that the person suffering from anxiety disorders will end up with the label of being clinically anxious. To determine whether a person suffers from anxiety, the following tips may be useful.

o Take a look at their life and see what they typically do. Is their family environment comfortable? Do they have a steady job?

o Does their family cause stress for them? If so, it may cause anxiety. While some family members may not be aware of anxiety, others may be affected by the negative emotions, which are present. They may come to the conclusion that they cannot control what is happening around them and may start to experience anxiety.

o Can anxiety disorders stem from social situations? For instance, is the individual always worrying about how they look, or what the other person thinks of them? These types of thoughts may cause anxiety, leading to panic attacks. Therefore, it is important to seek the help of a medical professional if this is the case.

o Is the individual usually healthy and has no underlying health conditions that could lead to anxiety disorders? If the person is healthy, their immune system is strong and they are able to handle any type of anxiety that arises. However, if the person suffers from serious health problems, the chances of them developing anxiety may increase.

o Can the person’s work be stressful? If they are constantly stressed, they will most likely experience a great deal of anxiety and have a difficult time controlling the situation.

o Does the person’s past experiences present a problem? For instance, if they have had certain fears before, they may carry those fears over into their work or personal life. If the anxiety is overly obsessive, then the person will feel hopeless and unable to handle it.

o Has the person received psychological work to deal with their anxiety? Sometimes a therapist will recommend psychotherapy to help a person overcome their issues, but they may still be afflicted with anxiety due to underlying issues.

o Can the person be helped by physical activities, such as getting up and going for a walk? Once the anxiety has subsided, physical activities will release endorphins, which are mood enhancers. By having a positive outlook on life, a person will feel better and will not worry about anything.

Because each cause of anxiety is different, the person who suffers must seek the help of a medical professional to determine the cause of the disorder. Without the proper diagnosis, the anxiety will continue to grow, and there is no cure.
